“This was a very personal experience for me since I was painting a picture of my 9 month old son. While painting a portrait, especially of a small child, was really challenging in every aspect, Illa was there every “stroke” of the way to help and guide me. I am most attached and proud of this painting.”

“This was my very first painting of a place in Italy my husband and I visited. I was terrified and unsure throughout the whole process, but Illa taught me how to first trace the image from a photograph, how to mix the right colors, what brush strokes and brush types to use, how to get the desired texture, how to pay attention to detail, have patience, and most of all confidence in myself. Illa was extremely detail-oriented, paid attention to every single millimeter on the image, and gently corrected my mistakes when it was appropriate. I very much enjoyed this experience, and I feel I have learned a great deal from her.”
